Gear.  We love our gear.  For some, each hike and backpacking trip is a chance to try out some new gear they've recently purchased, (and those purchases are frequent.) For others, equipment is replaced only when lost or has finally broken after miles and miles of trail have taken their toll.  In any case, the gear we purchase is essential to our enjoyment of the outdoor experience and, often, our safe return home.
